Speakers
Andrew Brown - East 72
Andrew Brown has 45 years experience in the equities markets as a stockbroker, corporate investor and funds manager with experience in London, New York and Australia.   He has served on 14 Australian listed company boards, mainly of smaller companies. 
Andrew’s sell side experience was mainly as a banks and insurance analyst for Baring Securities and County NatWest. On the buy side, Andrew was a Director and Head of Equities at Rothschild Australia Asset Management for five and a half years (including successor companies) engineering a significant turnaround in the performance of the domestic equity portfolios.
In late 2022, after extensive research, Andrew established East 72 Dynasty Trust to invest exclusively in global securities with controlling stockholders, such as families or management, to capture the long-term benefits of such businesses. Dynasty Trust is long only and does not hedge in any way but applies minimum and maximum portfolio holding limits. Andrew writes a long form, highly regarded quarterly letter focusing exclusively on one or more securities held in the portfolio.
Andrew has an honours degree majoring in economics and econometrics from the University of Manchester, England and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jaume Puig - GVC Gaesco
Jaume is Managing Director and Investment Director of GVC Gaesco Gestión SGIIC and GVC Gaesco Pensiones SGFP. He directly manages various investment funds and SICAVs. He joined GVC Gaesco in 1995 and over the years has won 24 awards for investment management, 18 of which correspond to funds managed personally, 5 to the management company as its investment director and one more, on an individual basis, as the best equity manager of the decade 2000-2010. He began his professional career in 1989 at Fibanc, he subsequently worked as an actuary at Banco Vitalicio and in 1995 joined Gaesco. He was analyst, head of research, manager, Investment Director and Managing Director of Gaesco Gestión, S.G.I.I.C., positions he has held since 2000. He currently directly manages various investment funds and SICAVs, both equity and absolute return.
Jaume has two degrees in Economics and Actuarial Science from the University of Barcelona. He is a CEFA, EFPA and ICMB Fixed Income Portfolio Management.
He is vice-president of Inverco Catalunya. He has collaborated with various entities: IESE, ESADE, Barcelona GSE, IEF, UdL, Col·legi Economistes, Col·legi Actuaris… As part of his volunteer work, he is a member of the Investment Committee of the VHIR Foundation (Vall d’Hebron Research Institute) and the Investment Committee of the Sant Pau Research Institute, among others.
Luis Urquijo - Muza Gestión
With a degree in Business Administration from the European Business School, Luis Urquijo has been the Chief Executive Officer of Muza Gestión SGIIC since 2018.
For the last fifteen years, he has been permanently involved in monitoring and analysing listed companies, both nationally and in Europe, always under a value investing philosophy. From 2014 until joining Muza Gestión de Activos, he was Investment Director at Ábaco Capital, and prior to that he spent eight years as a Managing Partner at Horizon Capital advising various investment vehicles. Among other positions, he has been Chief Executive Officer of La Muza Inversiones SICAV since 2011. He has also held various positions related to the world of financial markets at Ahorro Corporación Financiera, BBVA Bolsa, Banesto Bolsa and CV Corporate Finance.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Financial Management from IE and PADE from IESE.
Ben Williams - Arcus Investments
Ben joined Arcus Investment in 2020, and he’s currently Co-Portfolio Manager of the Arcus Japan Fund. Previously, he was an Investment Director at GAM Investment Management and Fund Manager at RSA, and has more than 27 years experience. He received a BA (Hons) degree in Economics from Durham University and a MSc degree in Investment Analysis from Stirling University.
